1949WinterTen south-eastern states initiated an intensive study of the Mourning Dove in 1948. Each state has employed a trained biologist as dove project leader who is following an outline suggested by the Fish and Wildlife Service. Since the dove is migratory from southern Canada to Mexico, however, the complete picture of the life of this species cannot be obtained solely within those ten states. Observers in this region can help much by noting carefully such things as the following: location and number of all dove nests; number of broods raised; total production of young; nesting season; movement of juveniles and adults and wintering populations. Anyone desiring more detailed information concerning methods of conducting these kinds of studies should write to: Harold S. Peters, Fish and Wildlife Service, Glenn Building, Atlanta, Georgia.
